DECORATING YOUR SOLIS SUITE FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

The holidays are just around the corner, and one of our favourite things to do is to decorate! The space you have in your suites here at Solis gives you the room to create a festive atmosphere without being too cluttered. You also have tons of space to have friends and family over to celebrate the holiday season.

Not sure where to begin? Check out these decorating ideas that will help you transform your living space into the ultimate holiday haven!

1. START WITH A TREE

A gigantic tree is a must if you’re a character in a holiday movie, but smaller trees can make just as much of an impact as big ones – especially when you live in an apartment. Here’s a few of our suggestions:

🎄 A Slim Tree: Slim trees take up less space than full-bodied Christmas trees and offer an ideal solution for narrow or tight spaces.

🎄 A Mini Tree: Whether your tree fits on a table or a shelf, a smaller tree offers an excellent option if you don’t want to give up valuable floor space. Although you may not have room for more than one full-size tree in your apartment, there’s probably ample room for two or more small trees. Put one in every room or place three or four around your living area.

🎄 A Half Tree: Half trees are flat on one side, allowing them to be placed flush against the wall. Unlike slim trees, half trees aren’t narrower than traditional trees but don’t protrude into the room quite as far as full-diameter holiday trees.

2. CHOOSE A THEME

Whether it’s based on colour, icons, or holiday type, choosing a theme will help you solidify your decorating scheme and make it much easier to choose holiday decorations for your suite! Start off with creating a Pinterest board with all of your holiday inspo.

3. ADD SOME LIGHTS

Let it glow with some strings of lights!

They will immediately give your apartment a festive air without taking up much space. You can drape them around windows and mirrors, kitchen countertops and doorways, on the wall above your bed – or everywhere in between!

4. HANG UP YOUR HOLIDAY STOCKINGS

Dangle your stockings from bookcases, shelving units, or on window sills. A coat rack also makes the perfect place to display stockings and can be used to hold coats, scarves, purses or other items during the rest of the year!

5. SIMPLY YOUR CENTERPIECES

You may not have room for huge bouquets or glittering sculptures, but you can pull together a dreamy dinner table with some DIY holiday centerpieces! You can click here for some inspiration.

6. GIVE YOUR HOME A HOLIDAY SCENT

There’s nothing better than waking up and your home smelling like fresh pine, gingerbread, cinnamon, or whatever your holiday go-to scent is! Plus, smell goes a long way in setting an atmosphere, and filling your home with holiday aromas can make up for minimal decor.

The Maker’s Keep here in St. Albert has the BEST smelling candles that will definitely have your home smelling festive! You can find them at The Enjoy Centre
